Amaara & Co.: Creating Timeless Jewelry with Passion, Purpose, and Perseverance

This story is part of the Immigrant Entrepreneur Canada Retail Incubator Program, presented by RBC and supported by Meridian.

The program provides hands-on retail experience and business training to help immigrant entrepreneurs launch and grow their ventures in the heart of Ottawa.

At the ByWard Market Vendor Village, you will discover more than beautiful jewelry. Behind Amaara & Co. is a story of determination, continuous learning, and a passion for creating high-quality jewelry that is both affordable and made to last.

For founder Aditi Gupta, entrepreneurship had always been a dream.

"I always wanted to build something of my own."

She knew she had the passion to become a business owner, but she also knew she would never discover what she was capable of unless she took the leap.

Building a business offered the opportunity to explore every aspect of entrepreneurship, from designing a website and managing inventory to connecting with customers and growing a brand.

The idea for Amaara & Co. came after a disappointing shopping experience.

After purchasing a piece of jewelry that did not meet her expectations, Aditi recognized an opportunity to create something better.

"I realized there was a gap in the market for high-quality, affordable, and long-lasting jewelry."

That realization became the foundation for Amaara & Co., a brand focused on offering stylish, durable jewelry that customers can enjoy for years to come.

Like many entrepreneurs starting a business in a new country, Aditi faced several challenges along the way.

Working with a limited budget, learning Canadian business regulations, balancing a full-time job, and building a brand without previous marketing experience often pushed her outside of her comfort zone.

She also faced the uncertainty that many entrepreneurs experience.

"I wondered if customers would actually buy my products."

Instead of letting those doubts stop her, Aditi focused on learning. She attended entrepreneur programs, participated in networking events, watched educational videos, joined workshops, and treated every challenge as an opportunity to grow.

"Every challenge has helped me grow."

Throughout her journey, Aditi has learned to celebrate every milestone, no matter how small.

Launching her website, receiving her first online order, hearing customers recommend her products, and building the business herself have all been meaningful achievements.

One moment stands out above the rest.

"The moment I heard the Shopify notification for my first sale, it felt real."

Knowing that someone she had never met trusted her brand enough to make a purchase gave her confidence that Amaara & Co. was moving in the right direction.

The Immigrant Entrepreneur Canada Retail Incubator Program became another important milestone in her entrepreneurial journey.

Through business workshops, the residency week, and networking opportunities, Aditi gained valuable knowledge while connecting with a community of fellow entrepreneurs.

"Hearing everyone's stories was incredibly inspiring."

The program also helped her strengthen her understanding of pricing, branding, and marketing while giving her the confidence to continue building her business.

"Karla has been amazing and always willing to help."

For Aditi, the greatest lesson has been that success comes through taking action rather than waiting for everything to be perfect.

Her advice to other immigrant entrepreneurs is simple.

"Don't spend too much time planning. Start and learn as you go."

She encourages newcomers to trust the resilience they have already developed through building a new life in Canada.

"As an immigrant, you've already overcome one of life's biggest challenges by starting over in a new country."

She believes that same determination can become one of an entrepreneur's greatest strengths.

At Amaara & Co., every piece of jewelry represents more than style. It reflects courage, perseverance, and the belief that meaningful businesses are built one step at a time.
